14th Street bewteen 3rd Avenue and Irving Place Horace Greeley disliked The Academy of Music so much, he asked how much it would cost to have it burned, and said "If the price is not unreasonable, have it done and send me the bill." The second Academy of Music was built across the street on the south side of 14th Street and was built after the first Academy of Music was demolished. The second Academy of Music later became the Palladium, a discotheque and rock venue, and it, too, was demolished.
